INFORMATION ABOUT OBTAINING STYLI AND SERVICE FOR STRAIN GAUGE SYSTEMS:

Strain Gauge Styli are “user replaceable” – but they are matched and tuned for each system. This is clearly stated in the owner’s manual. Please read the below information to understand the requirements for ordering new Strain Gauge Styli.

The SG systems we now produce have a rear ALLEN HEAD securing screw for the stylus assembly – older versions do not. If you have an older version, the stylus is only held in magnetically. DO NOT loosen or remove the PHILIPS HEAD screw in the middle of the rear connecting pins, as this will damage your cartridge.

To see how to remove/install styli from our current design, (and magnetically from our older design) PLEASE click this:

HOW TO REMOVE AND REPLACE THE  STYLUS IN OUR STRAIN GAUGE SYSTEMS

Although the SG systems we produce have “user” replaceable styli, there are and have always been restrictions for building new styli in order to obtain proper and best performance. These restrictions must be observed when styli are ordered. Each stylus must be individually matched to the both the cartridge and electronics for proper performance and operation as this is not a magnetic cartridge system, but a displacement cartridge design, which works so well because it is such.

If you have at least one good working styli, we can manufacture another one (or more) that is matched to your system by having only your existing good styli and cartridge in hand. If you do NOT have any working styli, we then need the cartridge and electronics to build and match one or more new styli. Upon receipt, we will test and tune the system.

You may – at your discretion - ship us the full system to have the electronics re-adjusted to the cartridge and insure that all styli are properly still matched. You may also ship us the system to have it inspected and a quote provided to have it upgraded to the most current design. Costs for performing these latter efforts will vary, depending on the version of manufacture and condition of the system.

Current pricing for new styli are shown on our website, and are as follows, the cost of which DOES include tuning the electronics if sent:

·  SGS-2 $349.95

·  SGS-3 $549.95

·  SGS-4 $749.95
