Hi Peter,  

I just wanted to let you know that the SMMC2 arrived at my home today.   I connected it immediately to my Beogram 4500, and I want to make quite clear, that if, in the past, I did ever hear such pure, alive sound reproduction from my records, I certainly don't remember when. The difference is spectacular between what I hear now, and what I used to hear on the old cartridge (and I remember the previous cartridge's sound quality quite well).   I must be honest, and admit that I was reluctant to shell out your asking price - I almost bought a very slightly-used MMC2 for much less, but my final decision to buy the SMMC2 turned out to be 100% justified.   Long live the LP!!!!   You can be 101% proud of your quality control!!!!

Peter:   Received your SMMC1 today and wanted to take a few minutes to write some impressions on it: Fabulous. I am going to go back to the shop, work on some old fiddles and listen to some more Bach Unaccompanied Violin Sonatas (D-G Szering.) While all my Sheffield Orchestral, Jazz and Rock stuff sounds fantastic (of course), just the one voice of the violin has a truly surprising amount of additional overtones and fuller body of sound.  Thanks for your work.  The cost is really inconsequential compared to the quality of sound.   Jim Banks

  I really do still enjoy playing my hard-to-find vinyl records. As I hadn’t replaced my B&O cartridge in several years, I began researching the best replacement option. Through the web, I found your company, a B&O authorized cartridge vendor and manufacturer.

  My research was particularly timely as I was about to begin a project to digitize a portion of my music collection (i.e., electronic and other forms of alternative music) with the hope of someday putting the music on a digital audio server. In order to get the best quality sound, I contacted you about replacing my MMC4 cartridge with an upgraded MMC2.

  I was VERY reluctant to spend so much more on the MMC2 to replace the MMC4 cartridge I had was pleased with in the past and quite used to. You advised me that I would very likely notice a difference, but I was still skeptical thinking you just wanted to upsell the more expensive cartridge.    To make a long story short, I bit the bullet and sprung for the upgrade. Cartridges are not returnable for refund and may only be exchanged for replacement or upgrade if deemed by The Soundsmith to be defective due to manufacturing defect. The warranty on an exchanged cartridge is for the remaining warranty period of the original purchase. All cartridges are date coded for verification purposes.
